All In One!

Updated: Feb 25, 2020

If you see your recycling going into the same truck as your garbage, there's a good reason!

Split body trucks are now in use for some of our residential routes. This means that if you see your trash and recycling being picked up by the same truck it is still being separated.

Why Use a Split truck?

These unique trucks are split down the middle so that regular trash can be gathered on one side, while your recyclables are stored on the other side. All of your waste is transported to a transfer station. The transfer station has an area where the recycling side of the truck is dumped and a different area where the waste side of the truck is dumped. The recyclables are then taken to a Material Recovery Facility and the waste is take to a landfill.

Thanks to our split-body garbage and recycling collection vehicles we are able to:

  1. Increase collection speed and efficiency. Instead of sending two different trucks on the same route, we only need one to do all of the work

  2. Have fewer trucks traveling through your neighborhood, cutting down on noise and traffic

  3. Decrease the amount of fossil fuels needed to power our fleet

  4. Increase our ability to collect recycling in rural areas.

So rest assured that even though all of your recycling and trash are going into the same vehicle, their ultimate destinations are different!
